In Krio, Tie u Orja refers to tying your ‘orja’, the piece of clothing that goes over the traditional African wrapper to hold it firm. It symbolises fortifying oneself to face a difficult time. This project is about strengthening disaster-preparedness among crisis communicators in Sierra Leone. In a nation that has seen several climate-change and public health disasters in recent years, Tie u Orja seeks to strengthen the crisis responsiveness and disaster communication of journalists, crisis managers, and non-governmental responders through better preparedness.
